Our water supply is repeatedly being contaminated.
400 Gallons of radioactive water has leaked from a nuclear plant in Monticello Minnesota. The plant is run by a utilities company called Xcel Energy.
Xcel has stated that they first detected the leak last year in November, but are just this month informing the public of this occurrence. The initial leak was caused by a pipe failure. A large container was used to catch the contaminated water, and was supposed to be a short term solution to stop the spread of the leak.
However, crews recently discovered that the container had spilled over, causing a new leak from the exact same spot.
The leak has released water containing high amounts of tritium, a radioactive isotope of hydrogen, into the groundwater around the plant.
Studies done on animals and radiation biology indicates that tritium is more hazardous than gamma rays and most X-rays. It has been know to cause cancer and birth defects. Tritium has an exceptionally high exchange rate, meaning it is highly mobile in the environment. When tritium is released into the environment, it rapidly contaminates all plant and animal life in the adjacent areas.
To make matters worse, the Monticello plant lies just on the Mississippi river, one of the most important rivers in the US. Officials claim that the water is safe to drink, and there has been no spread of tritium into drinking water, but that would be nearly impossible. The edge of the facility is literally on the Mississippi river.

So why is this so significant?
Because the Mississippi River basin supplies water to about 1.151 million mi² of land. This area makes up roughly 41% of the US.

Now this leak in itself is obviously not at all safe or acceptable for the people and life in the affected areas. However this alone likely isn't going to cause extreme ecological issues. But, when you combine this occurrence with the numerous other occurrences, such as the recent train derailment in East Palestine OH, you can begin to see the widespread affect this will have.
Every week, more and more large manufacturing facilities burn down, releasing plumes of toxins into the environment. This will have an effect on the water supply. Residents of East Palestine OH are still fighting with the city council about the safety of the environment. Videos are still surfacing of chemicals in the rivers and streams surrounding the location of the train derailment. The same is happening in Monticello MN, where the Xcel Energy plant was.
And not only this, but over the weekend, over 8,000 gallons of an acrylic polymer solution "accidentally" leaked into the Delaware River. The leak happened upstream from the Baxter Treatment Plant, which supplies almost 1 million citizens in Philadelphia Pennsylvania.
This contamination of the water supply in Philadelphia, caused a massive panic. People rushed to the stores in herds to purchase bottled water. Shelves virtually cleared of all water around the city and surrounding areas.
When disasters like this happen, it is natural for the masses to act swiftly out of fear, causing a shortage of the necessary items. In this case, it was fresh, uncontaminated water. This is why it is crucial to be prepared and informed, so you can protect your family from these occurrences. Stock up on emergency food and water before the next disaster strikes your hometown.
But who could benefits from these disasters?
We'll you've guessed it. The government.
The Department of Justice has the right to seize legally owned private property in the instance of environmental contamination. In the DOJ manual 9-111.440, it states "It is the policy of the Department of Justice that real property that is contaminated or potentially contaminated with hazardous substances may in the exercise of discretion be subject to forfeiture..."
This is an attempt to slowly strip the land from the grasp of the people, and transfer it into the hands of those in control. More and more talks of "15 minute cities" are happening, and world leaders are looking for ways to restructure cities into ones that are densely packed, and completely surveilled.
(we will discuss this in depth soon)
With all that is taking place in the US, and even the world, it is imperative that you have what you need to be sustainable.
You need to be prepared.
