Historical Context:

Written to the church in Philippi, a Roman colony in Macedonia, this letter reflects Paul’s joy and gratitude for their support. Despite being imprisoned, Paul encourages the Philippians to find joy in Christ and live as citizens of heaven.

 

 

Main Message:

Rejoice in the Lord, live humbly, and press on toward the goal of eternal life. Paul uses Jesus’ humility and obedience as the ultimate example for believers to emulate.

 

Fun Fact: Philippians contains one of the earliest Christian hymns, celebrating Jesus’ incarnation, death, and exaltation.
